NGPA enhances its partnership with United Airlines to reach new levels in 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 17, 2016) – Today, the National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA)
announced a continuation of their partnership with United Airlines for 2017, a move that will help advance
the organization’s mission and vision while creating new opportunities for its members. In 2016, United
Airlines debuted as the NGPA’s first Diamond level sponsor. For 2017, United Airlines will nearly double
its support of the NGPA, helping to further the cause of the LGBT aviation community. The airline will
also serve as presenting sponsor of the NGPA’s 2017 Winter Warm-Up and Industry Expo event in Palm
Springs, California.

“United’s increased commitment of NGPA going in 2017 is critical to our success,” said NGPA’s
Executive Director, David Pettet. “With the airline’s support, NGPA will continue to rise to new heights in
support of its membership. United is a role model for diversity and inclusion within the industry, and I’m
honored to have them stand beside us with their support.”

As part of their partnership, NGPA and United will work together to develop and implement workplace
inclusivity programs. These programs will include raising awareness within the aviation industry as well as
United. In addition, United will recruit NGPA members for jobs at the airline and award a Flight
Operations scholarship to one pilot affiliated with the organization.

“Having a diverse team that represents the customers and communities we serve is a top mission at United,”
said Howard Attarian, senior vice president of flight operations at United. “Our support of the NGPA
reflects that core value, and we are proud to grow our partnership with them.”

In 2016, NGPA received more support from airlines, aviation organizations and members than ever before
in its 26-year history. Since its founding in 1990, donations have supported programs and scholarships to
further LGBT equality within the aviation community, education and careers in aviation. Current sponsors
include several airlines, aviation corporations and flight institutions that provide year-round support of
NGPA’s mission. The association expanded globally in 2016, and now supports the LGBT aviation
community in more than 14 countries and growing.
