Membership Benefits

Without a doubt, with over 1,600 members at present, one the biggest benefits of joining the association is the camraderie our members enjoy from belonging to an organization of LGBT aviators and aviation enthusists. Whether that camraderie is generated by attending one of the many events, communicating online via the website, or reading the latest association magazine, it's the fellowship of our members that strikes a consistent, rewarding chord.

Events

We host numerous events throughout the year and across the continent.  Two of our major events are held in Provincetown, MA in the early fall and in Palm Springs, CA in mid-winter.  A third very popular event is the Florida Spring Fling.  Other events like Toronto Pride and EAA AirVenture  in Oshkosh, WI also attract large numbers.  We also occasionally offer group travel discounts for adventures with other members to exciting destinations.

NGPA News - the quarterly magazine

Our quarterly magazine, NGPA News, keeps you informed on programs, events, member stories and items of interest. Articles cover topics as varied as aviation safety, FAA regulations, and technology advances; coming out on the job stories, favorite flying destinations and coverage of events. One of the most popular, regular features is Member Profile which introduces a member to the rest of the membership. The calendar lists events not just from the Gay Pilots Association, but also the happenings of local gay and lesbian aviation groups across the country.

Our monthly email newsletter keeps you up to date on the latest organization happenings.

Website "Registered Members" Pages

The website Registered Members pages offer secure access to a wide variety of social networking experiences.  From Instant Messaging (including video), to photo pages, discussion groups and links to Facebook and Twitter, the site has something for everyone.

Registered members can access secure online services for viewing the calendar and registering for events.  Members can update their own information, including renewals, and can post as many photos as they wish. There are also links to other aviation- and LGBT-resources such as regional LGBT aviation groups, aviation flight planning services and safety reports.

Through our member directory, you can search for members in your area or for those with a specific aviation interest or certification.

For U.S. pilots, we also provide an excellent opportunity for you to consult with the pros regarding the FAA's most current policy on illnesses, medications, opportunistic infections, etc., through its relationship with Virtual Flight Surgeons.
